iPhone - Terminate background app run in the springboard
I'm having trouble terminating an app when its in the springboard and not in the foreground. I've tried the following but it doesn't work.
//Call the kill command
[[UIApplication sharedApplication] terminateBackgroundTaskIdentifier:NSBackgroundTaskInvalid];
I also tried the following.
UIApplication* application = [UIApplication sharedApplication];
[application terminate];
[application release];
The application doesn't crash but I think I shouldn't be using the terminateBackgroundTaskIdentifier.

Take a look at -[UIApplication performSelector:withObject:]
- (void)performSelector:(SEL)aSelector withObject:(id)anArgument afterDelay:(NSTimeInterval)delay
The first argument will be the selector for the task that is about to be terminated. You can use this to tell the OS that you have the intention to end that task.
